I am an intensivist and head of the Adult Critical Care Department at Cannes Hospital – Hôpital Simone Veil (France), where I also serve as hospital coordinator for organ and tissue procurement.
I am a doctoral candidate in biomedical ethics at Aix-Marseille University (ADES laboratory, UMR 7268), supervised by Prof. Alexandre Lautrette and Prof. Pierre Le Coz. My thesis examines biomedical research ethics under EU Regulation No 536/2014 on clinical trials, and the tension between procedural compliance and communicative deliberation in the ethical review of research. I hold a master’s degree in biomedical ethics from Aix-Marseille University.
I chair the Steering Council (Conseil d’orientation) of the Espace Éthique PACA-Corse, the regional ethics forum, and the Hospital Ethics Committee of Cannes. I have been a member of a French research ethics committee (Comité de protection des personnes Sud-Méditerranée V) since 2020, and of the Health Research Ethics Committee (CERS) of Nice University Hospital since its creation.
I sit on the Medical Committee (CME) of Cannes Hospital and on the Group Medical Committee (CMG) of the Alpes-Maritimes public hospital group (GHT). I am a member of DSR Réa PACA, the regional intensive care body, and co-lead, with Prof. Jean Dellamonica, the critical care network of the Alpes-Maritimes.
My work addresses mechanical ventilation and decision-making in the ICU, decision-making capacity of critically ill patients, withholding and withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment, advance directives, and research ethics, including during pandemics.
I teach clinical ethics and supervise master’s students in biomedical ethics.

New projects. My clinical, institutional and doctoral commitments are fully allocated at present, so I am not taking on new collaborations, supervision or co-authorship. The exception is a project that makes me say “wow”: an original question, a sound method, and a clear reason why my contribution matters. If yours fits, tell me in three sentences.
Review requests. I accept peer review only within my fields (research ethics, clinical ethics in critical care, mechanical ventilation) and only a limited number per year.
Patients and families. I do not give medical advice by email. For any clinical matter, please contact the Critical Care secretariat of Cannes Hospital (+33 4 93 69 70 25, reanimation@ch-cannes.fr).
Format. A short message with a clear subject line, the request in the first lines and the deadline stated is the one most likely to get an answer.
Response time. I read every message, but I answer only those that need an answer, and sometimes with a delay. Without a reply after three weeks, you may send a brief reminder.
